History

Minos BioSystems is a UK company, funded in September 2000 by private investors. Through this funding, Minos BioSystems acquired rights to transposon technology developed in the laboratory of Professor Savakis at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

Minos BioSystems has also developed intellectual property jointly with Erasmus MC , Rotterdam The Netherlands Professor Frank Grosveld in the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics.

IMBB-FORTH

IMBB-FORTH is an internationally recognised Research Institute carrying out basic and applied research on insect, plant and mammalian systems, located close to the Bioscience and Medical School facilities of the University of Crete. Laboratory space for start-up companies, provided by Greek government grants, is available in the Science and Technology Park of Crete, (STEP-C) adjacent to the IMBB building.
